Pucker up!

Okey! This post sounds a little cheesy to me. Lol but all the women with thin upper lip or probably thin lips would relate to it really well. I have been watching a lot of you tube videos, tutorials, reading stuff related to it. Each one has their own great way and steps, also a lot of things tad similar. Available from an array of options like exfoliation to lipsticks to lip plumper to glosses to lip injections (not recommended!) and what not!

I am sure nobody loves and prefers going under knife as their first option. That sounds too “celebritic”. I mean yeahh….who would not want those soft, pillowy lips that are perfect in shape but those celebrity ones are a little too extreme. No offence to anyone but I would not prefer some out of the proportion fat pasted on my face, that too with such high stakes. Still if you are considering going for it let me tell you few facts with some as dangerous words as possible to scare you off … lol… JK :p

·         Be ready to spend fortune for temporary benefit. Yes even lip injections have temporary effect depending upon their filling.
·         If you are going for lip plumping particularly, then go for lip injection and not Botox.
·         People wondering what BOTOX is: a chemical that causes paralysis of muscles. Ummm…..Yeah that’s it!! Not much of a big deal!!! Right?? :D It rather helps in preventing those lines and wrinkles on lips by off course paralyzing those muscles and preventing them from ageing. It causes just a mild plumping.
Side effects: Seriously?? Do I need to tell you effects of paralyzed muscles? Considering on lips…. You would think twice using a straw…. using letters like “P”, “B”, etc in your words.
·        Injectable filler on the other side inflates/fill a tissue and stay there occupying that space causing it plumped temporarily. Even if at least that process makes some sense, there are few types of filler which are not even FDA approved.
Side effects: swelling, redness, and tenderness at the injected site, more worse- asymmetry, lumps and irregularities in lips; infection, scarring, allergy etc. and out of all the things, it might just give you an awkward and plastic face or smile.
Still want to go ahead? Don’t just swoop in, please consult a really good surgeon and measure pros and cons.

I would now tell you a makeup trick I personally applied.
1st tip- As everyone knows black is the slimming color, which applies for lips/lipstick as well. The lighter the shade of your lipstick the fuller your lips would look and the darker you go it will slim down your lips. Also gloss gives an illusion of fuller lips. So the lighter and glossier the shade is the fuller your lips would look. The darker and matte the lipstick is the thinner your lips would look
Well, as I said in my “color lip last review” blog that I am a matte lipstick person I would also give you a trick for that at the end.

2nd tip- I have this picture below, which I would explain but before applying your lipstick what you can do is dip a toothbrush (not the one you use for brushing your teeth) into Vaseline  and scrub your lips in circular motions for 1-2 minutes. Don’t be too harsh. If you don’t have a Vaseline just use a toothbrush alone; that can be your normal toothbrush you use. In fact you can do that often for a minute right after brushing your teeth.

I haven’t done this in the picture. The effect was still good.
Apply some lip balm and give it some time to get soaked in the lips, while you apply all other makeup.

Here we start!
1. Rub off the balm and dab a bit of foundation on your lips. That’ll make your lipstick stay longer, also will make it a plain canvas and the true pigment of the lip color would show up.
2. Apply a lip liner. Now that is the most important. That’s the only different thing you would do. This would give the lips a nice contouring. Light shade, dark shade, gloss or no gloss, this will make a difference. Start from the center of the upper lip and line your lips along your lip line in fact you can line a little above that (see the picture). You can give whichever shape you want to give with this. Now this will take a bit practice.
The lip liner used here is - MAC’s lip liner in “in synch”
3. With the same lip liner, fill in the lips; like in traces/few swipes but not completely.
4. Now fill in the lips with lipstick generously. While applying, stretch your lips like you would laugh so that it shows the cracks. Now swipe it again on the lips to fill in the cracks
The lipstick I have used here is MAC’s Pro Longwear lipcreme in Till TomorrowIt is a pinkish nude color. very soft and nice.
Tip- you can also take a blotting paper- put it between your lips smack them to remove any excess lipstick and give your lips another swipe of lipstick.
5. Complete it with applying a coat of gloss over your lips including the liner.  (See the picture)

Now for keeping the lipstick matte, just put a bit of gloss at the center part of both upper and lower lip. The real trick is still the lip liner.

These were the combined tips and trick for nice full lips. They look so many steps but actually take less than 3 minutes. If you have any question, feel free to ask. :)
xoxo
